Cebit 2007 - said to be one of the largest consumer electronics and IT exhibitions in the world - kicked off in the German city of Hannover yesterday.
ITWeb toured the event venue on Tuesday, when thousands of exhibitors put the final touches to their stands ahead of the influx of visitors.
Last year, Cebit claimed to have attracted a total of 430 000 visitors over the week-long event, and 6 200 exhibiting companies from all over the globe.
This is the 21st Cebit event and it has been held in Hannover every year.
Aside from the exhibition, spread out over various gigantic halls, the event will feature keynote addresses by top executives from participating multinational firms, and guided tours around some of the sections.
Some of the areas of focus at this year's event include telemedicine, digital imaging, open source, e-learning, and mobile Internet and television.
