Leading LCR provider TelePassport has dramatically reduced its international call rates for its market-leading direct-dial international voice service.
Clive Cheetham, TelePassport`s Product Manager for International Voice Services, says: "These new rates are TelePassport`s most aggressive yet, driving the market even further towards the sub-one rand minute - at these levels several countries, including major routes like Australia, France, the UK and the US, are now cheaper to call than making a local cellphone call - even at cellular LCR rates."
He comments further: "TelePassport`s international LCR service is implemented transparently on our clients` switchboard systems, without any hardware investment or long-term contractual commitment by the client. All LCR equipment needed is supplied and managed free of charge by TelePassport, and clients only pay for the calls they make. It`s a `can`t-lose` situation."
Commenting on this service in the light of current hype over the newly legalised voice over IP technology, Managing Director Anton Potgieter says: "While in the long-term VOIP will be the preferred solution for most of our clients for their international voice, the reality is that right now VOIP is still an emerging technology in SA, and the costings and performance leave a lot to be desired. TelePassport has always offered services that pay their way up front - and as our international voice clients are currently paying as low as 65% of Telkom rates, they really can afford to wait until VOIP can really prove itself as a sound business decision. As least-cost routing specialists, we see VOIP for what it really is - just another route for cost-effective communications - and we know that the real value to the customer is in delivering all available routes, and making properly efficient use of these."
Cheetham concludes: "The quality of our direct-dial international voice connections is superb, so much so that most of our clients cannot tell their calls are being routed through TelePassport. Therefore this premium quality service will remain a very popular choice for those blue chip companies that demand perfect service and clarity, even after VOIP is feasible and we have migrated most of our clients to our VOIP services. And right now, it is an unbeatable choice as it delivers clear savings without any risk."
