Telkom has requested the Independent Communication Authority of South Africa (ICASA) to withdraw its request for Telkom to refile its 2002 tariffs by 10 December 2001 in accordance with the new regulations - since the new regulations are invalid.
Telkom reiterates that it has already appropriately and correctly notified ICASA of its 2002 tariffs on 14 November 2001.
On 26 November, ICASA promulgated new regulations and requested Telkom to refile its tariffs in accordance with these new regulations. The regulations promulgated by ICASA on 26 November are defective and Telkom is currently engaged in discussion with ICASA with a view to remedy these defects such that new regulations can apply in 2003.
