Telkom today officially inaugurated a centre for the company`s convergence business, completing its hi-tech communications hub at Centurion.
The new building will be known as the National Business Solutions Centre (NBSC), and complements the Data Centre and the National Network Operations Centre by closing the loop and bringing together the company`s expertise in communications convergence.
Speaking at the opening function, Telkom`s Chief Sales and Marketing Officer Nombulelo Moholi said the new facility would enhance the company`s ability to offer state-of-the-art communications solutions for the business and corporate world.
The NBSC will house Telkom`s Data and Special Services operations, Network Service Management, IT External Services and Internet Service Provisioning Operations. Also in the new complex will be the Telkom Application Solution Centre, Global and Corporate Marketing and Sales, as well as Telkom Business Integration Services, Business Solutions and Programme Management.
"To survive in today`s tough business world, a company has to ensure that it stays at the leading-edge all the time. At the same time, it must improve its profitability, while still acting responsibly towards its shareholders and stakeholders," Moholi said.
"In the super-fast developing world of information and communication technology, it is crucial to be at the forefront. I believe this new facility will enable us to live up to our service delivery promises and demonstrate yet again that Telkom is the leading integrated communications company in the country and indeed in the region. We can compete with the best in the world," Moholi said.
The official opening of the facility marked the completion of one of the biggest construction projects to be undertaken in SA in recent times.
The Telkom NBSC was built between the National Network Operations Centre and the Data Centre, providing Telkom with a centralised and expanded IT backbone, an energy farm and an additional server farm, call centre facilities as well as four floors of office space.
