Telkom says customers taking advantage of the deal must upgrade to a line of 10Mbps or faster.

Telkom has revealed the pricing structure for its deal with MultiChoice, which will see subscribers to the operator's services get an IP-connected DStv Explora decoder.

The offer - which will be available from Saturday to new and existing Telkom customers - will apply to customers that upgrade to a 10Mbps or faster ADSL Line.

Telkom said it will bundle the new DStv Explora decoder with its SmartHome Premium package for R899 on a 24-month contract.

In a statement released by the telco today, CEO Sipho Maseko said: "Access to entertainment content is one of the many possibilities that super-fast broadband can enable. We are excited to offer customers access to seamless connectivity at super-fast speeds that will ultimately amplify their entertainment experience."

Telkom added it will also make the Explora decoder available at Telkom stores for R1 999 while the DStv Connector will go for R399.

"Customers will need to link their DStv Explora to their existing router, either by Ethernet cable or using the DStv WiFi connector to enable these new services," the telco said.

The deal will see DStv customers get "an additional 300 titles of the latest television series, movies and other exclusive content on DStv Catch Up Plus, through the Internet-enabled Explora decoder," according to Telkom.

Imtiaz Patel, group CEO of MultiChoice SA, said the connected services give DStv Premium subscribers access to a wider range of content.
