Telkom to bolster mobile investment

Telkom announced this morning that it would embark on the implementation of a new organisational structure to boost its mobile stake.

The telco says it is geared up to offer several new propositions and has set a recruitment process in motion to appoint a managing director who will serve as an executive committee member of the Telkom Group.

Telkom Group CEO Nombulelo Moholi says delivery on the mobile investment features at the top of the organisation's corporate agenda. “It is an appropriate time to reconfigure the Telkom Mobile top leadership team.”

Until the appointment of an MD is realised, says the company, the Telkom Mobile executive team will report to chief financial officer Jacques Schindeh"utte.

Telkom Mobile managing executive Amith Maharaj has been promoted to senior managing executive and will continue to head up Telkom Mobile Operations. In this role, Maharaj will be responsible for mobile IT and networks, as well as mobile marketing and product development, the go-to market strategy and convergence services.

Moholi says announcements of further appointments will be made “in due course”.
