Telkom's brand exec quits

Johannesburg, 20 Oct 2011

Fixed-line operator Telkom's group executive of communications and brand, Brenda Kali, will leave the company at the end of the month.

“I'm a change agent and after three years I move on... I'm a restless person; I do look for new and exciting adventures.”

Kali headed up global communications and public affairs at oil giant Sasol before joining Telkom, spending two years in that position. She has previously been head of programming for the South African Broadcasting Corporation's SABC 1 channel.

Telkom was rocked by several senior level resignations last year after CFO Peter Nelson left the operator suddenly last August.

Nelson's resignation came shortly after the company announced CEO Reuben September would leave with immediate effect. September's replacement, Jeffrey Hedberg, left the company in March after holding an acting position and was followed by Nombulelo “Pinky” Moholi.

Telkom recently appointed Jacques Schindehutte as CFO, who took over from Deon Fredericks, who held the post temporarily.

Kali says there is nothing untoward about her resignation.
