Tellumat Telecoms, the communications division in the Tellumat technology group, has delivered its first consignment of Tanzanite phones, under a three-year renewable deal to supply Telkom's retail stores throughout the country.
The eye-catching, high-quality analogue phones have become a Telkom customer favourite under a previous supply contract, but sport a new look and brand for their expected availability in September. Bennie Langenhoven, managing executive of Tellumat Telecoms, says the phones are aimed at the home and micro-office markets.
"The Tanzanite range was chosen because it satisfies Telkom's strict criteria of reliability, quality and functionality, and the success Telkom has had with a similar product in the past. Tellumat's supply record further bolstered our value proposition, as has our 32% BEE ownership."
Tellumat will shortly have a comprehensive range of high quality products in the Telkom retail stores which will include corded telephones, DECT cordless telephones and home telephone systems.
While a massive endorsement from the country's biggest fixed-line telco, the deal is one of several telco partnerships for Tellumat. Langenhoven declines to speculate on volumes or the final value of the deal, saying retail demand is the ultimate determinant.
