Global testing software company Mercury Interactive, which recently launched its online testing services, has posted higher than expected first quarter revenue as dotcoms and dotcozas realise the need to stress test their Web sites in real-world environments.
"I was also very pleased to see faster than expected adoption of our new hosted e-service offerings," says Volkmar Spieth, MD of Mercury Interactive SA. During the first quarter, Mercury Interactive introduced LoadRunner ActiveTest, the first hosted load testing e-service.
With a 24-hour turnaround, ActiveTest can stress test an entire Web site infrastructure to improve performance and reliability of a site. The company launched Astra LoadTest and Astra QuickTest with increased support for fast, simple Web testing. Additionally, Mercury Interactive enhanced LoadRunner by incorporating performance monitors for Allaire, Broadvision, BEA, SilverStream and IBM WebSphere application servers.
"Mercury Interactive`s first quarter revenue was the strongest in our history, surpassing even our traditionally strong fourth quarter revenue. The driving force fuelling our growth was business-to-business e-commerce," Spieth says.
Revenues for the first quarter of 2000 were $60.4 million, an increase of 61%, over the $37.6 million reported in the first quarter of 1999. Net income was $9.8 million, an increase of 98% compared to net income of $5 million in the first quarter of 1999.
Mercury Interactive is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, with forty offices worldwide.
