Thailand gets 3D virtual mall

New interactive experiences will feature in Thailand's first 3D virtual mall, called UberMall, reports Bangkok Post.

According to Digicrafts general manager Surasak Areesawangkit, which developed the site, the virtual mall allows shoppers to browse its seven floors much the same as they would in a real department store. It covers a virtual area of 900 square metres and is located in U Town, a virtual campus of Assumption University.

Shoppers can create their own avatars and use them to 'walk' around the area and enter shops, where they can view products through 360 degrees.

Overtis unveils tech

Known as VigilancePro Retail, the new security software is billed as unique in the industry since, as a specialist Windows XP package, it can be loaded onto an EPOS terminal, where it will monitor for any unusual behaviour.

Richard Walters, Overtis' CTO, says the new software is the first offering from the company that has been driven by customer requests. Residing on the retail till environment, Walters says that the software looks at the transactions flowing through the EPOS terminal and analyses them for unusual patterns.
