Thailand suspends whistleblower website
Thai authorities have used emergency powers to restrict access to the WikiLeaks whistleblower website on security grounds, an official said yesterday, fanning controversy over Internet censorship, AFP reports.
The order came from the government unit set up to oversee the response to political unrest that rocked the nation's capital earlier this year, said a spokeswoman at the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology.
"Access to this website has been temporarily suspended under the 2005 emergency decree," she said.
Silicon files patent infringement lawsuit
Silicon Laboratories says it has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Taiwan-based IC maker Airoha Technology in the US Federal District Court, Texas, according to TechEye.
The lawsuit alleges that Airoha has infringed two of the company's patents relating to mixed-signal integrated circuits.
These, Silicon says, are specifically US Patents number 6 226 506 and number 6 233 441 with, but not limited to, its FM receiver products.
Cisco, MOSAID in patent row
Cisco Systems has filed a lawsuit against MOSAID Technologies relating to Power-over-Ethernet and voice over Internet protocol technology, the Financial Post states.
The Ottawa-based technology licensing company says it is considering its response to the complaint filed on 16 August.
The patents in question came with MOSAID's February 2009 acquisition of SercoNet.
