The Connection Group - distributors for the Solomon ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) solution - has announced it is to roll out an enterprise-wide retail vertical solution called Solomon 4 Retail in the retail division of the group.
Solomon 4 Retail will be installed at all 17 of the group`s retail outlets, now branded Incredible Connection.
Solomon 4 Retail is a new-generation, fully integrated enterprise resource management system aimed at growing retail chains who want to be more pro-active, profitable and productive. The suite of applications is built to take advantage of the advanced Microsoft Enterprise platforms and standards such as Windows NT (Windows 2000), MTS, MS SQServer 7.0, COM/DCOM, and ADO. Solomon 4 Retail actively supports and contributes to the Microsoft Retail industry initiatives like ActiveStore, OPOS and the Value Chain Initiative (VCI). The solution is architecturally fully complaint with the Distributed Internet Based Architecture specification and Universal Data Access initiative from Microsoft.
Paul Moses, a director of The Connection Group, said Solomon 4 Retail uses Microsoft as its backbone and Solomon for relevant application-related services - a technological strategy adopted by The Connection Group as a whole.

Malcolm Hyland, MD of Incredible Connection, said : "We conducted an intensive worldwide search to find a suitable enterprise-wide retail system and eventually selected Solomon 4 Retail because it is fully integrated, linking our point of sale terminals in real-time with back office accounting and inventory systems. This means that a sale, when processed, goes right through to the general ledger. Moreover, we had never had an enterprise view of our organisation previously and had to write time-consuming, error-prone batch routines for the various outlets to get a cohesive picture of all the pieces in the enterprise.
