The Green Grid signs MOUs
The Green Grid, a global consortium dedicated to advancing energy efficiency in data centres and business computing ecosystems, now has memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA), states Earthtimes.
The Green Grid's agreement with the EPA will first promote energy efficiency in EPA computer facilities and then broadly share results in order to impact change within both other governmental agencies and the private sector.
The alliance with SNIA, formally announced by SNIA earlier this month, is designed to further networked storage best practices for energy efficiency.
Itron, Silver Spring partner
According to CBR, Itron, a provider of meter data management software, and Silver Spring Networks, a provider of critical networking infrastructure solutions, have executed an agreement to integrate Itron's OpenWay Advanced Metering platform with Silver Spring's IP-based Smart Energy Networking solution.
Under the terms of the agreement, the companies have addressed the technical, functional, and solution delivery issues required to deliver a complete, fully supported Advanced Metering and Meter Data Management solution with end-to-end IP connectivity.
Itron's OpenWay advanced meters combine open standards with advanced functionality, including ANSI C12.22-based standards compliance, interval data collection, time-of-use metering, load limiting remote disconnect, outage and meter temper detection, remote firmware updates, as well as Zigbee-based home area network connectivity.
SMC expands product offering
SMC Networks is set to roll-out networking solutions that respond directly to the needs of the SME market, says TMCnet.
The company will also deliver its advanced platforms through the company's channel partner experts, specialised VARs, resellers, MSOs and technology partners.
SMC's solutions focus on tight integration with its technology and channel partners for hands-on understanding of customer applications and requirements.
