Anyone still wanting to know what the matrix is should look no further than Tally`s new range of T2240 and T2340 serial impact dot matrix printers for the answer.
Designed as successors to the company`s T2030 and T2130 series, the new range of printers is packed full of new technology and functionality to extend the printers` working lives, while lowering the costs of ownership and delivering high-quality prints every time.
"The improved speed, higher workload capacity and even greater reliability that the T2240 and T2340 bring, make them attractive upgrade and replacement offerings for existing and new Tally users," says David Terry, GM of TallyCom, local Tally vendor.
One of the key features of the new machines is that the life of the print heads has been increased by 50% to 300 million characters. Additionally, the print speed has been increased to 500cps (characters per second) for 9-pin heads, and 440cps for 24-pin heads at 12cpi (characters per inch). Top performance has also been improved to 350 pages per hour.
The printers are available in either 80 or 136 column, and 9 or 24 pin versions. All of Tally`s new printers share common parts, options and consumables, making parts replacement simpler and keeping the overall costs of spares down.
The printers also boast improved reliability with a mean time between failure (MTBF) of 12 500 hours, up from 10 000 hours. Moreover, a larger Flash memory can accommodate more resident fonts and code pages and the input buffer has been increased to 64KB from 40KB.
"It`s not only the technical improvements that make these printers stand out," adds Terry. "They are also a pleasure to use with front-loading paper for easy installation, simple swapping between paper paths and reliable paper transport. The printer`s small footprint also means users don`t need a special desktop to hold them.
"For those who may still wonder, the matrix is Tally," Terry concludes, "and you don`t have to plug a computer into your head to figure that out."
