Fujitsu Siemens Computers has totally redesigned its Lifebook S notebook range. As the lightest 13.3-inch notebook with a modular bay in its class, the new Lifebook S-5582 offers now 19% more display area with even less weight.
For easy wireless access to networks, a version with an integrated wLAN antenna will be introduced at CeBIT 2002. This upgrade marks the latest advance in Fujitsu Siemens Computers` campaign to make mobile working a reality for businesses of all sizes.
The modular bay concept allows flexible functionality at low weight, small form factor and long battery life, powered by the latest Intel mobile Pentium III 800MHz processor-M with enhanced SpeedStep technology. A wide range of devices like the Combo Drive (CD/DVD/CD-RW), CD, DVD, CD R/W or a second battery are available. The notebook includes a FireWire terminal on board to transfer digital video and audio through one cable to the system.
The S-Series combines exceptional performance and portability with security features usually found only on the most advanced business desktops. To prevent data losses, the hard drive is shock protected. The integrated SmartCard reader offers access protection and roaming functionality. When activated, the standard security panel boots the system only if the correct PIN code has been entered. Intelligent mobile manageability tools developed by Fujitsu Siemens Computers help to reduce the total cost of ownership. DeskAlert, for example, detects hardware failures or changes by monitoring continuously the notebook enabling a repair before any damage.
