Leading notebook and accessories retailer, The Notebook Company, has announced that it is to become one of the first notebook companies to sell its wares on the popular on-line auction site, www.bidorbuy.co.za http://www.bidorbuy.co.za.
This was confirmed by Chris Riley, general manager of The Notebook Company, who added that his company will also be diversifying by offering a host of accessories, such as palmtops, modems, network cards, and fully guaranteed reconditioned cellular phones. He said he does not believe he will sell a large number of laptops, when it comes to high-cost items such as laptops, people prefer to "first touch and feel the product".
He did say, however, that the Internet is increasingly becoming the facilitator for sales. "People do their research on-line, using the Internet as the initial facilitator, and then approach the vendor to conclude the deal along traditional lines."
He said on-line auction sites such as bidorbuy.co.za allows companies to have their products sold to the highest bidder. "It is a fabulous idea and is bound to grow in popularity, especially as people feel safer about transacting over the Internet. It also allows consumers to pick up bargains, although we will be setting certain reserve prices on items," said Riley.
The company expects to boost its sales of cellular phones, modems and palmtops on-line.
