Thin is in, with the new Compaq Aero 1500 palm-size PC

Do more with the ultra-light feature-packed aero 1500 than any other PDA in its class.

Compaq Computer today launched the Aero 1500 Palm-size PC. Just 1.27cm thin and weighing only 118 grams, the Aero 1500 is the thinnest, lightest Windows CE device available, while still giving the user all the functionality of personal information management with contacts, calendar and email, the ability to connect wirelessly via GSM connectivity or infrared, and an incredible 14 hours continuous battery life. Still more, the Aero 1500 provides great features only Windows CE can deliver, such as audio recording and playback capabilities for MP3 and other audio programmes, and virtually unlimited expandability via CompactFlash - for memory, modem, bar-code scanners, GPS receiver and even digital cameras. And although monochrome, the Aero 1500 delivers a 16-gray-scale anti-glare screen (compared with other competitor`s 2 gray-scale), truly allowing the user to expect more and do more with their Windows CE device.

The Aero 1500 is Compaq`s fifth Windows CE device for mobile professionals, reflecting the strength of Compaq`s Frontline partnership with Microsoft in meeting the technology needs of customers with an industry-standard solution while delivering the utmost in choice, value and innovation. And in today`s NonStopT environment, the Aero 1500 is an ideal mobile client for e-business activities, providing the user with the best tool to access and manipulate critical information in the fastest possible manner.

The Aero 1500 is also jam packed with software, including Compaq`s new QMenu, QUtility and File Explorer programs in ROM. These new utilities place frequently used actions such as switching between or closing tasks, adjusting volume, changing backlighting and managing files only a convenient click away. The Aero 1500 also ships with a robust set of additional applications, including Picture viewer, AudiblePlayer, CoolCalc, QuickView Plus (for viewing email attachments and word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation files), upgraded VCA Finance, and Image Expert CE (30-day trial version) for editing digital pictures.

Priced at only R3030, the Aero 1500 is available from the end of September onwards from authorised Compaq resellers and retailers.

Top-of-the-Line Compaq Aero 2130

Further demonstrating the incredible momentum around the Compaq Aero range of products, Compaq announced today a refresh of the existing Aero 2130 Palm-size PC. Featuring 16MB of memory, the Aero 2130 will now ship with new ROM, supporting 64K colors, enhanced software titles, Active Sync 3.0 and Outlook 2000.

The Aero 2130 will be reduced in price from R4337 to R39871.

Therefore, a free Performance Paq will be available to all customers who have bought the Aero 2100 prior to the refresh to allow them to upgrade their unit.
