Three Cooks, a leading manufacturing and retail baker employing some 3500 staff, and part of Tompkins Plc, a world-wide industrial company, has invested lb400,000 with JBA, in order to replace its bespoke IT systems, streamline its business operations and make it millennium compliant. The software was chosen over offerings from a number of other solution providers. JBA`s financial modules went live in January and will be followed quickly by its logistics modules this month.
Wilst investigating how to become millennium compliant, Three Cooks took the opportunity to re-assess its entire IT system. It concluded that its existing bespoke systems were not fully integrating its business operations and following consultation with Arthur Anderson and considerations of alternative software solutions, Three Cooks decided to invest in JBA software.
One of the major benefits that Three Cooks hopes to reap from JBA System 21 is its forecasting and reporting functions. Operations controller, Gary Davies, explained "Our demand fluctuates on a daily basis so we cannot predict what will happen from day to day. Being able to report and forecast quickly enables us to plan accurately the next day`s production. This is critical in the bakery trade where over production means perished goods, under production means dissatisfied customers, and both scenarios res ult in lost sales."
Three Cooks is also set to benefit from System 21`s EDI capabilities, which will help its trading relationship with both suppliers and customers where electronic commerce has become an essential trading tool.
