Specialist IP Solutions Systems Integrator three6five has formally launched its Wi-Fi pop-up event portfolio of products and services to the South African market.
A wireless pop-up event involves the implementation of a wireless network for a large, one-off event attended by many people, which can include sporting events, festivals, music concerts, high profile political rally or a business conference.
"Our first WiFi Pop up event was in 2014 at the Ultra Music Festival held at Nasrec, with over 40 000 people in attendance," says three6five CEO, Tyrone Carroll. "It was a huge success, and since then we have continued to refine and improve our product and service offering to cover events of all types and sizes."
three6five can cater for any pop-up Wi-Fi solution, regardless of the duration of the event, via the high capacity LTE network T6F makes use off. The company can provide fast and reliable public Internet access and can deliver services for small to very large temporary WiFi network deployments. These networks can accommodate tens of thousands of client devices, providing WiFi for both indoor and outdoor events, even in remote areas.
"As AlwaysOn, we are often engaged by brands to assist with providing public WiFi at large events, often at short notice," says Hayden Lamberti, Chief Cat Herder from AlwaysOn. "Operationally in these instances, we lever the services of three6five to manage this for us from end to end. From corporate functions, to sports events and concerts three6five have proven their ability to be very agile and highly effective in installing, managing and running these 'pop-up' WiFi installations on our behalf."
These are just some of the events we have collaborated on:
* St Stithian's Rugby Festival 2016;
* St John's Rugby Festival 2016;
* BMW Polo at Stein City 2015;
* UB40 Concert 2015;
* Ultra Music Festival 2014;
* Cape Carnival 2016;
* Fact Durban Rocks 2015; and
* DSTV Delicious Food & Music Festival 2015.
three6five provides a full turn-key solution and requires basic information to ensure a complete solution: event location, event access, and expected turnout. With this information, the company can provide the following services for a specified event:
* Network and RF planning;
* Network installation commissioning and integration;
* RF optimisation for optimal Wi-Fi coverage and throughput;
* Wi-Fi support and maintenance throughout the course of the event; and
* Backhaul (optional).
"Planning a temporary installation for any live event requires more than just installing outdoor Access Points (APs) on existing infrastructure," points out Carroll. "Different solutions are required for huge stages with large metal infrastructure, outdoor tents, convention centres, arenas, stadiums or small special occasions. From a small indoor event to a massive rock concert, we can provide a tailored solution to fit any event. "
three6five partners with the leading manufacturers for high-density WiFi deployments, which have special features such as Ruckus' BeamFlex and adaptive antenna technology in order to maximise signal coverage, throughput, and network capacity.
From a branding and marketing perspective, customer branded event registration pages are provided on the registration landing page via the WiFi network. Other information that can be made available include onsite event information and customer advertising.
"This gives the customer the opportunity to advertise their product via an on-site provided Web server or off-site hosted content," says Carroll.
