Thunderbird 3.1 beta 2 released

Mozilla has released the second beta for Thunderbird 3.1, says The H Open Source.

Codenamed Lanikai, the development release aims to discover possible problems caused by changes in the underlying platform. Changes include an upgraded assistant, a quick filter toolbar and improved Persona's support.

The release candidate (RC) is expected to be available on 25 May. If no second RC is required, the final version of Thunderbird 3.1 is scheduled for 1 June.

DotNetNuke updated, bugs fixed

The DotNetNuke Corporation has released version 5.4.1 of DotNetNuke, a Web content management framework, states Visual Studio Magazine.

The open source framework suffered significant issues and serious bugs when the framework was tested with the .NET Framework 4.0, which was released by Microsoft in April.

"There were five or six issues that we identified that had compatibility problems with ASP.NET 4," says Shaun Walker, DotNetNuke co-founder and chief architect. "We worked with the Microsoft Web Platform and Tools team to deal with those issues in a way that we could support ASP.NET 4 and continue to support ASP.NET 3.5."

WS02 unveils SOA middleware

WS02 has unveiled the open source version of WS02 Carbon 3.0, a component middleware framework, writes eBizQ.

The solution is based on the OSGi technology framework, providing a platform that adapts to the needs of IT projects both locally and in the cloud.

“WSO2 Carbon 3.0 puts IT developers in the driver's seat for the first time. Now it's simply a matter of choosing the middleware capabilities required, and Carbon automatically handles the provisioning - no integration required. It is the next step in the evolution of IT application and service deployment,” says Sanjiva Weerawarana, WSO2 founder and CEO.
