Tibco rolls out Spotfire 3.1

In a move to mainstream predictive analytics, Tibco Software has rolled out the latest version of its Spotfire platform, reports ZDNet.

Dubbed Spotfire 3.1, the latest iteration promises a natural language statistical experience. Spotfire 3.1 aims to help anyone in an organisation get fact-based answers to questions that help drive revenue.

The company says its software is not just for analytics gurus, but also marketing professionals, business development managers and others who need forward-looking business intelligence (BI) in a hurry.

Wipro network to track fraud

India's ministry of finance's Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) has awarded an IT contract to Wipro Infotech to develop an IT network to track all irregular financial transactions, states IndiaTimes.

The Financial Intelligence Network (FinNet) will be connected to FIUs of other countries and also to other departments like CBI, Income Tax and all banks in the country. Insurance companies and non-banking financial institutions will also be mandated to report all irregular financial behaviour of consumers in the network.

Wipro will implement FinNet, which will involve development of a portal, data warehousing, analytical and BI applications and ERP implementation for the FIU.

Teradata boosts appliance speed

Teradata has unveiled the Active Enterprise Data Warehouse 5600, which offers a 65% jump in performance over previous versions of the appliance, writes InformationWeek.

Key speed elements in the new 5600 model include a quad-core Xeon processor based on the Nehalem microarchitecture that includes an integrated memory controller. The 5600's processor enhancement, additional main memory and faster data storage subsystem enables 65% higher performance, according to the vendor.

The storage subsystem is the Teradata Enterprise Storage 6844, which boosts data throughput in data warehouses by 30%. The system's virtual storage software enables customers to configure 146GB and 300GB drives to store data to meet usage patterns of attached BI technology.
