Time Warner rolls out online backup
The service, which is called 'Business Class Online Backup,' allows businesses to automatically backup computer and server files to a secure and remote data centre as a protection against data loss.
Sun Herald.com states that Craig Collins, senior VP of business services sales and marketing at Time Warner Cable Business Class, says the solution provides a secure data storage service that will enable business operations to continue unimpeded should data loss occur.
“Businesses are increasingly reliant on vital computer data, and their need to protect and maintain this critical information also continues to grow,” says Collins.
According to a Forrester Research survey, 66% of small businesses do not have a business continuity plan if their systems fail and data is lost or inaccessible.
The unforeseen inability to access or retrieve data due to hardware or software failure, accidents, natural disasters or crimes, should be a critical component of IT management for businesses of all sizes, reveals Business Wire.
A 2010 study by Intel and the Ponemon Institute in the US found that the economic impact of one lost laptop to a business is nearly $50 000.
