TIS presents biometric solution

Johannesburg, 12 Jun 2009

Tubular Intelligent Solutions (TIS) is pleased to announce it is launching new Israeli biometric access to schools, nurseries and universities for the South African market.

The biometric fingerprint entry security system was developed by the well-known Israeli company, Synel Industries.

One of the important system functions is to allow parents and carers easy access to the nurseries while ensuring unauthorised people cannot gain entry.

The new biometric solution from Israel allows school and nursery personnel to register parents' and carers' fingerprints in seconds. Once registered, parents press their fingerprint onto a sensor pad at the door and gain immediate entry.

Unregistered visitors ring the bell and wait for a member of staff to admit them.

The new system will allow staff to spend more time with the children at busy drop-off and collection times, rather than answering the door to parents.

Barry Venter, the managing director of TIS, said: "We are always looking at ways of improving the quality of our nurseries, schools and universities, and security for the children and staff is a prime concern.

Also, as the rates concerning missing teachers and students in South Africa had been noticeably rising as of late, and in an effort to better control drop-out rates among students as well as absenteeism among teachers, the installation of our biometric systems in primary schools will keep tabs on attendance.

“We truly hope that the South African education institutions will adopt the new technologies,” said Venter.
