According to the company, iPhone users can now experience the same mapping and navigational experience with turn-by-turn directions, as people using TomTom's portable navigation devices.

The company notes the application also incorporates a safety camera database with verified safety camera information, so users know when they are approaching a safety camera.

Additional features include a user interface optimised with the iPhone's multi-touch capability, landscape and portrait navigation view options, and night and day colour mode for optimised screen visibility in varying light conditions, TomTom adds.

The TomTom app for iPhone 3G and 3G S users - running OS3.0, says the company, further features a map of Southern Africa from Tele Atlas and is available to download here for about $80 (approximately R600).
