Navigations solutions company TomTom released three personal navigation devices for the South African market at a joint function to celebrate its birthday.
The three products include the TomTom Start, XXL, and GO 750.
Joost Jetten, TomTom's vice-president of sales for sub-Saharan Africa, says these devices will give the South African public more choice to match their individual preferences and needs, such as hands-free calling with the G720, or a larger screen, such as with the TomTom XXL.
The TomTom Start, notes Jetten, is for the driver who wants simplicity.
“The TomTom Start mixes quality, simplicity and style and is the device for ease-of-use, intelligent route planning,” he says.
The Start can be customised with four interchangeable colour covers, costing R199 each, while the device, sporting a map of SA, Lesotho and Swaziland, will retail for approximately R1 399. It also includes easy access to the safety camera database and thousands of points of interest pre-installed, Jetten adds.
The TomTom XXL, says Jetten, sports a 5-inch touch-screen and the company's Map Share capability, for users to update their maps with those from other users. It will retail for R2 499.
According to the company, the TomTom GO 750 is its flagship product, and has an optimised user interface and enhanced speaker capability for clearer voice navigation and usability with the hands-free calling option. This device comes with a map of Southern Africa and Europe and will sell for R2 999,” says Jetten.
All three products, according to TomTom, will be available from Makro and Game stores countrywide.
