Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA) today announced that C+S common solutions GmbH & Co. KG, the IT service provider for top German meat supplier Zimmermann-ZIMBO-Group (ZIMBO), has implemented CA`s acclaimed Unicenter eBusiness infrastructure management solution to optimize its IT operations.
Thanks to the modular and integrated design of Unicenter, ZIMBO has already begun to realize the value from its investments in eBusiness technology, demonstrating its commitment to achieving competitive superiority through improved information management.
"Unicenter offered us the widest range of management applications and was able to start delivering benefits within a very short period of time," said ZIMBO CIO Claus Michael Sattler, whose team selected Unicenter after an extensive evaluation of enterprise management offerings from several vendors. "The resulting improvements in how we manage our end-to-end IT infrastructure will directly impact our bottom line and lead to strategic business advantages."
ZIMBO`s complex IT environment includes 13 IBM AS/400 systems, four Sun Solaris servers, 15 Linux servers and 42 Windows NT servers, as well as an extensive LAN/WAN network environment. Unicenter allows all these diverse components to be monitored and managed in a common manner, enabling ZIMBO technicians to respond quickly to any emerging or potential problem that might threaten critical business processes.
ZIMBO`s business has become increasingly dependent on its far-flung IT infrastructure, as the company has aggressively expanded into multiple markets across the European continent. This made proactive management of that infrastructure an absolute must for the company.
"Through the use of Unicenter, we can proactively intervene and prevent problems such as server and network overloads," said Sattler. "As a centralized management solution, Unicenter helps us to ensure optimal business continuity and increase productivity in other areas of the company."
ZIMBO is utilizing multiple Unicenter solutions, including Unicenter Network and Systems Management and Unicenter ServicePlus Service Desk and is using Unicenter to monitor and manage non-IT devices like cold-storage depots and alarm systems. By freeing technicians from a multitude of time-consuming, routine tasks, Unicenter is enabling ZIMBO to focus on higher-value projects and increase the company`s competitive position.
"ZIMBO`s experience demonstrates both the extensive scope of the benefits that Unicenter can provide and the speed with which those benefits can be achieved," said Peter Rasp, country manager of CA in Germany. "This unique combination of unmatched functionality and ease of deployment is what makes Unicenter the enterprise management solution-of-choice for corporate customers around the world."
In its original operating regions of Germany and Europe, Zimmermann-ZIMBO-Group produces mainly meat product specialties, with goods going to butchers, bakers, cash-and-carry markets, catering firms and convenience stores. The company, founded in 1953, has a workforce of 3,500 people, boasts many years of experience in food technology, and has established sophisticated logistics to provide the end consumer with fresh products. Zimmermann-ZIMBO-Group is an expansion-oriented company with 36 branches in Germany and Europe. For more information, please visit: http://www.zimbo.de
