Top PC makers keen on green

Personal computer makers are targeting 'green' goals, creating more options for customers focusing on their monetary and communal options, states RedOrbit.

Analysts note that going green has developed into a business approach: a way to stand out, and appeal to environmentally aware customers.

The three largest US computer manufacturers, Hewlett-Packard, Dell, and Apple, say customers receive benefits, like less power consumption in green-appraised display screens.

Intuit's 'Green Snapshot' helps SMEs

Can the company that tamed financial accounting do the same for carbon accounting, questions Reuters.

That's the aim of Green Snapshot, a free service of Intuit, the company that makes financial management software like Quickbooks and TurboTax.

Snapshot is aimed at the same market as those products: small and midsized companies, few of which have the time, temperament, or temerity to calculate their company's carbon footprint, let alone take action to reduce it.

SCM key to green revolution

Analyst and consulting company Ovum says management software has a key role to play in helping companies meet their environment responsibilities, states Industrial IT.

While there is a substantial market for green supply chain management software, its delivery can be challenging, so leadership of the market is up for grabs, according to Ovum.

Ovum says businesses of all types face growing pressure from consumers, investors and regulators to be 'greener' by reducing the raw materials consumed and pollutants emitted at each step in their products' life cycles.
