Torque-IT extends lifeline to ex-DTS students

For every IT training cloud there is a silver lining!
Johannesburg, 10 Aug 2000

Torque-IT wants to uplift the computer training industry whose reputation has been tainted by the rapid rise and fall of `fly-by-night` training operations, and has put together a special offer for all ex-Dynamic Training Solutions (DTS) students who have not completed their studies there due to the company`s recent demise.

Craig Ridgard, Director of Torque-IT and MD of its affiliated Zone Computer Career Campus comments, "Torque-IT is not only committed to giving top quality training, but also committed to the training and IT industry as a whole. We see skills and workforce development as an integral and key critical part of the growth and improvement of the IT industry. We have in the past, and will in future, continue to support the training and IT industry wherever possible, and endeavor to protect the reputation of the training industry against the `fly-by-night` organisations."

The basis of this special offer is a 50% discount on all Microsoft and CompTIA courses offered by Torque-IT, with certain prerequisites being met by the DTS students.

"Prospective students should always be careful of new and cheap training institutions", warns Gary Chalmers, MD of Torque-IT, "give them a chance if you want to, but don`t pay for all your courses and exams in advance. Rather pay them course by course, to ensure that you do not loose money, and that you can always change institutions should you realise the quality of teaching is poor".

Torque-IT, part of Mustek Limited, has established itself as a leading Microsoft Certified Technical Centre (CTEC) and Cisco Certified Learning Partner (CLP). Torque is also the largest Prometric testing centre in Africa.

Microsoft are supporting Torque-IT`s stand on this issues, as confirmed by Wayne Dalton, Services Readiness Manager at Microsoft South Africa, who states:

"Microsoft S.A. fully endorses the initiative put forward by Torque-IT. As a Microsoft Certified Technical Education Centre (CTEC), Torque-IT has shown its commitment, not only to training, but to the IT industry as a whole."

Wayne further asserts: " As a recognised CTEC, Torque-IT have met the stringent criteria advocated by Microsoft which includes employing Microsoft certified trainers and the use of the stipulated curriculum, course materials and the examination procedure. The CTEC programme will ensure that students receive a thorough knowledge and understanding of the required course material. Microsoft S.A. supports all actions taken by CTECs to protect consumers and uplift the South African IT training industry".

As a serious and properly certified technical training and career guidance organisation, Torque-IT Technical Computer Training, feels that the reputation of high-end computer training has been sullied in the consumer`s eyes, and is prepared to take a stand by helping the DTS students who have been let down, by offering them an option to recoup some of the investment they placed in their training.
