Toshiba makes tablet forays

IT Pro India.

The new tablet is expected to hit the US stores by 10 July and will run on Android's Honeycomb 3.1 version. Other brand majors, including Research In Motion and Hewlett-Packard, are also entering the market.

Weighing just 1.6 pounds, Thrive includes dual high-resolution cameras (5MP back-facing and 2MP front-facing) with teleconferencing functions, image and video renditions in HD fashion that will more than please the general mode of usage, and all packed in a crisp casing.

According to International Business Times, Toshiba VP and GM for products division, Jeff Barney, told the media that the new Thrive is geared towards users who were planning to migrate from notebook to the now popular smart gadgets.

Toshiba also anticipated customers' propensity to personalise their gadget by issuing the Thrive to come with a removable back plate, allowing users to inter-change the battery cover with available colours such as green, orange, purple, blue, pink, silver and black.
