Toshiba slims down laptops
The company has made its latest 14-inch Tecra, the R840, about 25% thinner and 20% lighter than its predecessor, the M11. The new 15.6-inch Tecra, the R850, is 19% thinner and 6% lighter than its predecessor, the A11.
Toshiba has slimmed down the R840 and R850 to 4.2 pounds and 5.3 pounds, respectively, while lessening the thickness to an inch for the smaller laptop and 1.2 inches for the R850.
The Tecra laptops were built with a new fibreglass-reinforced casing and 'honeycomb rib' structure, notes Channel Insider.
The R840 features a 14-inch HD or HD-plus LED-backlit display, is an inch thin and weighs just 4.2 pounds.
It can be configured with Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 processors and - when paired with a solid-state drive - boasts a battery life of up to 11 hours.
