Toshiba's smart 2GB PC card now available from SDD

Johannesburg, 24 May 2001

Most notebook users have at one stage or another suffered the indignity of running out of hard disk space. Toshiba has solved this niggling little hassle for once and for all by cramming a full 2GB of space onto a PC card - not surprisingly dubbed the Toshiba 2GB Type II PC Card - essentially, a hard drive on a PC card. This useful piece of hardware is available locally through Siltek Group's leading broad-based IT distribution company SDD.

"The Toshiba 2GB PC Card offers unprecedented amount of storage space in a compact, portable format, with out the need for additional cables, power or media," notes Andre Rossouw, product manager for Toshiba at SDD. According to him, apart from adding a healthy amount of storage space, the card is ideal for transferring large amounts of data between PCs. Rossouw says the card is compatible with any PC equipped with a PC Card Type II slot, and is supported by all Windows operating systems. In I/O mode the PC card offers up to 5.2Mbps and 20Mbps in memory mode.

The 2GB PC card is supplied with InstantBackup software and offers twice the data storage capacity of any other Type II drive on the market.

The Toshiba 2GB PC card (TypeII) HDD is available immediately from SDD and its nationwide network of more than 6 000 resellers.
