The Transcend brand has been making major inroads the world over. Not only is it a highly successful brand name in South Africa, it has received numerous accolades from industry insiders from across the world.

In South Africa, Rectron - as the sole local distributor of Transcend products - has increased its Transcend product portfolio and now stocks all products available from Transcend. This has led to the Transcend brand becoming one of South Africa's top players in market segments that include MP3 players, digital photo frames, and especially external 2.5-inch storage, where Transcend's design quality is particularly noteworthy and consistently grabs consumers' attention nationwide.

Locally, our primary focus - on Transcend's memory and flash product ranges - has not died down and unit sales are continually on the increase.

We're also pleased to see the Transcend brand getting the recognition it deserves in other parts of the world. For example, in the June 2009 edition of Computer Press, Russia's largest and most-popular computer magazine, the Transcend 32GB JetFlash V20 USB flash drive garnered the Computer Press "Editor's Choice" award.

In the magazine's comparative review of popular USB flash drives, the magazine said Transcend's 32 Gbyte JetFlash V20 outperformed rival products with its superior features, excellent transfer speeds and great value.

In addition, the reviewer pointed out that Transcend's software tools - available for download on the Transcend website - were overall better than all other software bundles compared.

Germany: Transcend is sehr gut

Another example of worldwide recognition comes from Germany, and that country's largest computer magazine, ComputerBild, which maintains a readership of more than 730 000 readers.

In the 15/2009 edition of ComputerBild, an astonishing 87 different flash memory cards were reviewed. Despite aggressive competition from other market leaders, Transcend's 8GB 300X CompactFlash (CF) card was placed first in the 8Gbyte CF card category, with an impressive score of 1.28 (1 being the highest and 6 being the worst), and was therefore awarded the title of “Best Product”.

Moreover, in the 8Gbyte microSDHC card category, Transcend's entry garnered the second place spot with a score of 1.89, while Transcend's 16Gbyte microSDHC and 16GB SDHC cards were both ranked third in their respective categories.

The editors of ComputerBild especially praised Transcend's 8GB CF 300X card for its very high read/write speeds and for its long 30-year (lifetime) warranty. Remarkably, no apparent disadvantages of the card were indicated. All Transcend flash cards received at least “gut” (good) test results, and the 8GB 300X CF card received “sehr gut” (very good).

And in Italy, Transcend is benissimo.

It's not only in the print media that Transcend has been recognised for its attention to detail, quality and even fashion. Over in style-conscious Italy - where they know a thing or two about being fashionable - Transcend's new MP860 Digital Music Player was selected as “one of the coolest hi-tech products for Summer 2009” by the chic Netc@f'e, one of Italy's most popular television talk shows. The MP860 was showcased to Italian viewers along with products from other leading brands such as Canon and LG.

During the show, which was broadcast at the end of June 2009, exclusive features and key selling points of the product were shown in full detail to viewers across Italy.

Besides the 4Gbyte black version of the MP860 Digital Music Player, the TV show mentioned the availability of the 8Gbyte white version, along with the fact that Transcend's 16Gbyte microSDHC memory cards could also be purchased as the ideal solution for storing music, movies and other data for playing back on the Transcend MP860.
