TranXactive WAPMart demonstrates WAP and Web e-commerce viability

TranXactive, a new company specializing in the development of web, WAP and voice-based software systems has released an application to demonstrate the viability of developing e-commerce applications that can be accessed on a WAP handset as well as a web browser.

WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) is a protocol standard that provides Internet access for small hand-held devices, such as mobile phones and personal digital assistants via a mini-browser built into the unit.

Working closely with Nokia SA to implement an e-commerce demonstration, TranXactive have developed three application modules to showcase the use of unified web and WAP. The TranXactive WAPMart consists of a virtual store for purchasing gifts, an order tracking application that simulates the movement of the order placed around the globe, and a store administration application that allows the virtual store`s stock to be reviewed and re-ordered remotely from any location - as well as allowing the administrator to view sales and profit reports.

Web users and WAP subscribers alike can point their respective browsers to http://www.communicator.co.za/WAPMart and view the same application. "We use a single business and database engine to deliver the same application to both the web and WAP channels" says TranXactive`s Richard Him Lok, "The WAPMart showcases all aspects of remote interaction and management of a virtual on-line store."
