TrendNet releases GreenWiFi

TrendNet, a wired and networking hardware brand, is back for CES 2011 with word of GreenWiFi, an embedded green wireless technology it is rolling out across its new wireless networking products, writes Earthtechling.

TrendNet claims GreenWiFi results in reduced power consumption of up to 50% by acting out at different stages of the wireless information transfer process. It is claimed to reduce power consumption when a wireless device is: idle and not connected to another wireless client such as a computer; idle and connected to a wireless client; downloading content; and uploading content.

It also reportedly reduces power consumption based on wireless signal strength. When a computer is closer to a GreenWiFi router, says TrendNet, and connects to the router with a stronger signal strength, the router will automatically lower its output power when conveying information to that specific computer.

CVEP to promote clean energy

The Coachella Valley Economic Partnership (CVEP) in the US will promote the region's solar, wind and other renewable energy resources at a key gathering of cutting-edge green tech firms, venture capitalists and other energy industry leaders to be held from 19 to 20 January in Indian Wells, states MyDesert.com.

CVEP is a sponsor of the seventh annual Clean Tech Investor Summit, which is expected to draw about 500 top-level energy investors and executives to the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort and Spa for two days of panels and speakers focusing on emerging trends in the industry.

“The exposure to investors nationwide is phenomenal,” says Vincent Battaglia, CEO of Renova Energy, a solar firm in Palm Desert, who will use the CVEP sponsorship to sit in on some conference events.
