Local mobile network technology company TruTeq Group has established an international division and opened its international headquarters in Brisbane, Australia.
"Since inception in 2001, TruTeq Wireless - now the TruTeq Group - has achieved steady growth and established itself as one of the leading players in the telco space on the African continent," says Tjaart van der Walt, TruTeq Group CEO and international MD.
TruTeq was founded in 2001 by four retrenched South Africans and has grown over a period of 15 years to include 10 African, two European, four Asian Pacific and two European countries. The company's solutions serve over 100 million subscribers in Africa and process almost a quarter of a billion transactions per day.
"Our business ethos has resulted in us expanding our client base, including in Africa - which has formed the bedrock of our international expansion into other markets. While business with Africa continues to grow, our first major global success has been in the Pacific region," says Van der Walt.
The company says its first major global success has been its business deal with Westpac, one of Australia's big four banks. Under the deal, TruTeq rolled out a mobile banking platform to serve the bank's entire mobile banking base in the Pacific.
Value-added services (VAS) remain an essential part of TruTeq's business. "We see VAS consolidation not just as a way of saving our customers money, but also as an opportunity for them to offer better integrated services a lot more rapidly than their competitors," says Van der Walt.
