Bytes Connect has announced that its customer, the City of Tshwane, has been named the overall winner of the global Alcatel-Lucent 2012 Dynamic Enterprise Award.
Tshwane was among a number of global enterprises in contention for the award, which recognises excellence and innovation in their use of technology to 'change the conversation' with employees and customers.
The city was selected as the winner through a vote at Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise's annual Industry Analyst Conference, in Chicago, from 26 - 28 June. The city was adjudged to have the most innovative enterprise communications in highly dynamic environments.
Bytes Connect, Alcatel-Lucent's Top Business Partner for 2011 in the region, has been instrumental in helping Tshwane reach its goals to deliver better community services. In a partnership spanning several years, Bytes Connect has assisted in the design, management and support of leading-edge Alcatel-Lucent solutions deployed at the City of Tshwane.

Subesh Pillay, Member of the Tshwane mayoral committee for economic development and planning, told delegates at the conference that the city, in partnership with Alcatel-Lucent and Bytes Connect, has built a more reliable and flexible network with faster performance, more features and increased availability and access to the community.
He said Tshwane had deployed almost every technology Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise offers in its network infrastructure and communications, to support convergence, unified communications, mobility and data centre strategies using OmniSwitch switches, IPD routers, OmniPCX Communication Servers, performance management software, contact centre and security solutions.
By doing so, he said, the city has seen an improvement in the quality of its communications network and is saving $345 000 a month.
