Third mobile operator Cell C has confirmed two executives have resigned.

Chief commercial officer Clifford Sampson will leave at the end of November, while executive head of sales Craig Kidson will leave in mid-December. Cell C says they intend to pursue other opportunities.

Sampson heads up Cell C`s commercial division, which is responsible for marketing, sales, channel sales, pricing, commercial analysis, product development and forecasting.

Cell C media relations manager Pamella Mongoato Radebe says CEO Jeffrey Hedberg will assume responsibility for the commercial division and all its functions until the position is filled.

Cell C recently said it gained over a million new subscribers since the re-launch of the Woza Weekend offering in June.

The mobile operator also said the R5 recharge voucher was its fastest-growing recharge voucher in SA, selling 161 293 382 units since its introduction.

Radebe says the company is busy with a promotion to drive postpaid subscriptions. "We should be in a position to gauge its success in mid-January 2008."
