UCS Technology Services believes that cultivating skills are the key to improving the lives of disadvantaged communities in South Africa.
Currently, UCS TS runs an initiative named GetOn - a school that provides previously disadvantaged individuals with POS and cashier training.
Learners are taught:
* Principles of customer service
* Cash handling skills
* Managing POS systems
This initiative enables the learners to find empowering jobs in the retail sector. UCS Technology Services' key functions in this project include donating old computer equipment, installing, setting up and supporting the equipment that is vital to POS training. The facilities and the training are then provided by the appropriately skilled individuals to the community identified for such training.
The first “GetOn” Graduation Ceremony was at the end of November 2011; over 120 learners went through the training held by UCS Technology Services.
UCS TS believes this initiative is important as it not only provides people in need with transferable skills, but also provides our customers with a larger, skilled labour pool. We are working with our customers to further help our GetOn graduates to get jobs in their sectors. UCS Technology Services looks forward to working within their communities in 2012. www.ucsts.com
