UK councils take CM seriously
Manchester Council will redevelop its Web site and implement a content management system for the first time, reports Information World Review.
The Web site redevelopment is part of a programme to improve customer contact through a range of methods, from telephony to the Web. "We're currently using flat HTML and we do not even have a content management system," said Annette Walters, senior project manager for the Manchester Improvement Programme.
The project aims to improve access for citizens and people with disabilities and offer access through devices such as mobile phones and PDAs.
Navy records take top honours
The Department of the Navy (DON) has been selected by the US National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) to receive one of five Archivist Achievement Awards for accomplishments in Federal Records Management, says BusinessWire.
The Navy won the award for its DON Enterprise Records Management Solution (ERMS), specifically for its ability to provide full-range life cycle records management capabilities, up to and including disposition.
To date, the ERMS programme, using TRIM Context, has enabled the capture of over 500 000 official records across 148 unique Navy processes.
