UK govt seeks ICT provider for prisons
The Register reports.
It has published a tender for a three-year deal worth up to £300 million to provide services for hardware, software and networks.
The MOJ wants to award the contract next year to provide an interim solution until a transition to Fits by 2015, although there is a provision for two possible extensions of a year each.
According to Computer World UK, Noms covers 131 prisons in the UK, as well as the MOJ headquarters, but probation services will not be included in the deal.
Under the deal, the supplier chosen will provide hardware, software, network services, hosting and service management for 50 000 staff.
Procurement of this interim step will start at the end of 2011, with a view to contracts being awarded in 2013, and the full transition having taken place in 2015, Public Technology.net explains.
