Ultimate Connection, part of the JSE-listed Connection group, has announced it is eying the export market with the launch of its locally-developed "Solomon 4 Retail" solution, a new-generation, fully integrated ERP system aimed at growing retail chains who want to be more pro-active, profitable and productive. It is also the only mid-range ERP product in the world which has implemented workflow as part of its solution.
Ultimate Connection is an Independent Development Partner (IDP) - focusing on the retail sector - for US-based Solomon Software, one of the world`s leading mid-range ERP (enterprise resource planning) vendors.
While Solomon 4 Retail is to be officially launched in SA early in May, its international debut will take place at the Retail Solutions Exhibition to be held in Birmingham, UK, from 25 - 27 May.
Neels van Tonder, Technical director of Ultimate Connection, said Solomon 4 Retail supports all of Microsoft`s current and new products. "Solomon 4 Retail takes full advantage of advanced Microsoft platforms such as MTS and SQL Server version 7, as well as Microsoft specifications, including Digital Nervous Systems (DNS), Distributed-based Architecture (DNA) and Universal Data Access. Moreover, it actively complies and contributes to the Microsoft retail industry initiatives of ActiveStore and OPOS (OLE for Point of Sale). In addition, through its innovative workflow module, it supports The Value Chain Initiative (VCI) pioneered by Microsoft.
Besides being the only ERP product for the mid-range with workflow as part of its solution, it is one of the few solutions of its kind in the world that provides data warehousing capabilities on Microsoft platforms.
Van Tonder said it out-performs systems with older architectures. "One of its main strengths is the fact that it has a web-centric architecture, meaning it can handle the massive volumes and semantic richness of Internet based transactions. This is one area where more traditional systems needs massive re-engineering"
