Uncapped Business ADSL from Web Africa - proudly powered by Nology

Johannesburg, 24 Apr 2012

Web Africa's uncapped Business ADSL offering with static IP address option, launched in April 2011, changed the game for business customers. Not only did it allow these users to take advantage of uncapped bandwidth at an affordable price, it also offered the innovation of static IP addresses for the small medium enterprise (SME) consumer.

This then enables business customers to use remote login and host Web sites, e-mail, File Transfer Protocol (FTP) sites, gaming servers and more. This sophisticated offering, which brought big business functionality within reach of the SME, would not have been possible without underlying technology, proudly powered by Nology.

“Our Premium Business Uncapped with Static IPs ADSL service is tailored to the needs of business users. In order to deliver this service, we required assistance with provisioning and monitoring the Static IPs on the routers, which is where Nology came to the rescue. Our long-standing relationship with Nology, along with their ability to provide not only the best hardware and support, but technical expertise too, meant that they were the obvious choice to assist us on this project,” says Nick McCreath, Product Manager at Web Africa.

“When Web Africa approached us to provide the technology to support their offering, we knew we had the perfect solution to meet their needs. The Billion 7402X ADSL 2+ router, combined with our TR-069-based management system (OneMS), enabled us to provide Web Africa with the technology they needed to give their customers a seamless, hassle-free experience,” says Adriaan Liebenberg, Product Specialist at Nology.

The Billion 7402X is the ideal router for the SME, offering high-speed Internet connectivity with auto-failover to 3G and a host of productivity enhancing features. A built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch allows for easy connection of wired-Ethernet devices, while a USB port enables sharing of 3G connections. Security is also a top priority. The device boasts a powerful 16-tunnel VPN and firewall to enable remote working, and simultaneously protects against intruders and attacks.

OneMS is a highly scalable, fully integrated Auto-Provisioning and Management System for Customer Premises Equipment (CPE). It simplifies integration with existing business processes, enabling Web Africa's customers to take advantage of easy, Web-based configuration and troubleshooting of the Billion7402X routers.

“Using OneMS in conjunction with the Billion routers (or any other TR-069 supportive CPE) ensures that the customers' services, including ADSL, 3G, VOIP and VPN, are automatically delivered, reducing implementation and support efforts and costs. Customers can even update device configuration settings with Web Africa's custom developed portal, which will then automatically update the device. This allows Web Africa to easily deploy new services to customers, and provides a single point of management for all customer devices,” Liebenberg adds.

The OneMS system also simplifies the complex procedure of assigning static IP addresses through the VPN tunnel, and offers a platform for ordering as well, delivering a hassle-free experience for Web Africa's customers. Once an order is placed, the OneMS system registers the unique MAC address of a router, which is then shipped to the customer. The OneMS system will then recognise the MAC address after the customer connects the device to the OneMS realm and auto-provisions the right settings to get them up and running in a matter of minutes.

“Thanks to the end-to-end technology solution provided by Nology, we now have an increasingly large number of customers happily making use of the service on a daily basis, with complete ease and impressive functionality. This would not have been possible without the assistance of Nology,” McCreath concludes.
