Unify NXJ 10 advances the delivery of process-driven, service-oriented applications

Unify delivers most comprehensive, vendor-independent application platform
Johannesburg, 19 Nov 2003

Unify Corporation today announced Unify NXJ 10, the industry`s most comprehensive, independent application platform for delivering process-centric, transactional applications on the J2EE architecture. Developed to meet customer demand for an application platform that connects people and information with all aspects of the business, Unify NXJ 10 enables organizations to effectively automate processes within and between organizations and enterprises, consolidate multiple legacy systems into unified composite applications, and provide advanced collaborative information systems for distributed teams and workforces.

Unify NXJ 10 provides a comprehensive set of application services including business process management, reporting, portal and portal integration, forms processing, and enterprise application integration, as well as assembly and orchestration components. Unify NXJ can be delivered as a completely integrated suite or as an integrated services platform for delivering solutions across all leading J2EE infrastructure stacks including BEA WebLogic, IBM Websphere, Oracle Application Server and JBoss Application Server.

"The arrival of Unify NXJ 10 heralds a new generation of solutions that enables IT organizations to build and deploy highly adaptive, real-time, integrated applications that are required in today`s globally connected economy," said Dave Glende, vice president of strategy and CTO. "With Unify NXJ`s unique combination of easy visual design, automated construction, and pre-built application services, IT organizations can deliver J2EE applications with maximum efficiency and minimized risk."

"The application platform suite is a new class of integrated middleware that serves as the foundation for building composite applications," said Daryl C. Plummer, vice president and research general manager, Gartner. "Enterprises using service-oriented development of applications (SODA) techniques will see greater success with fusion applications. They should seek out integrated service environments to simplify the creation and maintenance of composite applications."

"To expand on our exceptional service to our clients and leverage technology to enhance the speed and efficiency in communicating with them, we sought a solution to automate our case management business processes and workflow across our entire company," said Dan Mastrobuono, CIO for Federman and Phelan, LLP, Federman and Phelan, P.C. "Unify NXJ provided the solution we needed to rapidly assemble and orchestrate an integrated case management system that matched our needs and that we were able to bring into production quickly."

The Unify NXJ 10 integrated services platform delivers ultimate flexibility for implementing service-oriented applications, including:

* Business Process Management: Enables web services orchestration, business process management and workflow automation to ensure processes are automated for seamless delivery of information and transactions. Abstracts and manages business logic independent of the application logic.

* Integrated Reporting: Allows end users the ability to dissect business data, dynamically change the data view, and analyze that data to glean information.

* Application Integration: Connects leading enterprise and packaged applications, including SAP, PeopleSoft, Siebel, JD Edwards, Oracle E-Business, CICS and IMS applications, with applications delivered on the Unify NXJ platform.

* Enterprise Portal Integration: Seamless and automatic integration via wizard-driven portlet generation for quick and easy application deployment to leading portal platforms.

* Enhanced Forms Processing: Unify NXJ Form Processing has been extended to include dynamic document management, dynamic image management, automated file transfer; extended ActiveWeb presentation capabilities, custom data sources, enhanced team development and extended application component reuse.

In Spring 2004, Unify will offer Unify NXJ as a complete application platform suite by providing an enterprise portal, as well as extended web services support and enhanced forms processing components.
