Unilever Food and Beverage South Africa has signed an agreement with German IXOS SOFTWARE, to purchase IXOS-ARCHIVE and implement it locally.
IXOS-ARCHIVE will be rolled out on a SAP core to align Unilever`s business processes and integrated transaction systems, as well as management information systems.
IXOS-ARCHIVE, an enterprise-wide business documentation solution, automates the imaging, archiving, retrieval, sharing, delivery and re-use of data and information within organisations and between business partners.
It is designed to handle high volumes of documents for global deployment.
"Supported Software and CDE are the IXOS implementation support partners in South Africa and have been contracted to supply, install and support IXOS-ARCHIVE at Unilever Food and Beverage SA, as well as conduct product related training," says Supported Software account manager Steve Botha.
CDE and Supported Software provide complimentary skills, product and industry knowledge on Data Management Systems as well as Project Management and resources.
CDE, PQ Africa`s knowledge management division, project managed the implementation of IXOS-ARCHIVE at Unilever and was assisted in the implementation by Supported Software.
Phase one of the project involves the Computer Output to Laser Disc (COLD) Project, which will enable the importation of all Unilever SA`s legacy data (R2 data) into SAP R/3 systems for retrieval via an R3 user interface. Other phases in the project will involve data and document archiving.
"IXOS provides best functionality in terms of highly scalable archiving solutions and handling of document management, as well as support of the SAP workflow."
"Its capabilities will reduce the quantity of data that needs to be migrated from one database to another when upgrading systems," said Nelus Rossouw, consultant at CDE.
