Unisys today announced the result of the company's latest round of testing in the Transaction Processing Performance Council's (TPC) TPC-E benchmark of server performance and price/performance - the premier benchmark for online transaction processing (OLTP). The result showed the Unisys ES7000 Model 7600R Enterprise Server in the pole position, leading all other enterprise servers in performance, value, and scalability.
The TPC-E benchmark analyses OLTP performance under the simulated pressures of today's demanding enterprise data centre. The ES7000 Model 7600R Server turned in impressive results, with performance reaching 1 493.42 tpsE with a best-in-class economic analysis of $958.04 per tpsE. Performance is measured as transactions per second for the E benchmark (tpsE), while economic efficiency is shown as dollars per tpsE ($/tpsE) calculated as three-year cost of ownership divided by tpsE.
The ES7000 Model 7600R used in the benchmark testing ran the Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Datacentre Edition (64-bit) operating environment, using a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Enterprise Edition (64-bit) database.
“Unisys' leadership performance in the highly regarded, widely accepted TPC-E benchmark demonstrates the economic and operational advantages our advanced servers can deliver for clients as they deploy real-time infrastructure that responds dynamically to changes in the business environment,” said Rod Sapp, marketing director, Enterprise Servers, Unisys Systems and Technology.
