US gets entry level Samsung smartphone

Unwired View says. It's not a high-end device though, but is one that is going to have the perfect price: free. Meet the Samsung Repp.

The handset is on its way to US Cellular stores, and it already has a dedicated page on the carrier's Web site. The Samsung Repp has a 3.2-inch 320 x 480 touch-screen, a 3MP camera with video capture support, an 800MHz processor, stereo Bluetooth, WiFi, and 2GB of storage. It runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The Samsung Repp is a classic candy bar-style touch-screen-only device; there's no physical keyboard.

The Repp is not yet available, but interested consumers can sign up to be notified when it is. US Cellular will sell the device for $139.99 on prepaid, and give it away for free to anyone willing to commit to a two-year contract, IntoMobile reports.

Aside from the Samsung Repp, the carrier also announced a new phone and tablet trade-in programme, powered by CExchange. Under the deal, customers can get up to $150 for their old gadgets, even if the phones come from a different mobile operator.
