US Metro Wastewater decides on Spescom

Johannesburg, 22 Feb 2002

Spescom Software Inc., the US subsidiary of JSE listed ICT group, Spescom Ltd., today announced an order for a drawing management solution utilizing its eB CAD-Connect product from Colorado-based Metro Wastewater Reclamation District (Metro District).

Spescom Software, Inc., previously Altris Software Inc., is a leading provider of integrated document, configuration and records management (iDCR) solutions.

Metro District provides wholesale wastewater transmission and treatment services to local governments in the metropolitan Denver area. These local governments include towns, cities and special districts that provide wastewater collection for approximately 1.3 million people, businesses and industries.

The eB system, implemented by Metro District through Spescom Software's Fast Track program, will efficiently manage the agency's 20,000 facility drawings within its Engineering Department, allowing Metro District to continue to provide excellent service to its local government.

"We decided on Spescom Software because we regard it as the most likely candidate for compatibility with Metro District's current and future needs," commented Ray McNeill, Chief Planning Engineer, Metro District. "The eB system should be a very powerful management tool that will allow us to extend our current capabilities and we believe that Spescom will provide us with strong company support for the long haul."

David Dorries, VP of Sales for Spescom Software, commented, "We are delighted Metro District chose our Fast Track engineering drawing management solution. By taking advantage of the Fast Track program, Metro District substantially speeds up its production time, providing users with fast and easy access to drawings, which results in company-wide improvements in employee efficiency and customer service.

"Fast Track is designed to be deployed within weeks with an immediate return on investment. Moreover, the system can be easily scaled for additional users and, if required, easily customized over time to accommodate changing electronic document needs."

Spescom Software's recently launched Fast Track drawing management application is an easy to use, off-the-shelf solution using eB CAD-Connect, the company's drawing management product, to manage large drawings both within and external to the CAD environment. The Fast Track solution has been packaged by Spescom Software to allow organizations to very quickly implement and use a system that can be expanded rapidly to many users as required.
