Johannesburg, 13 Feb 2001

American Power Conversion and USDataCenters, Inc., provider of flexible, fully managed enterprise and center and hosting services, today announced the completion of the first-stage implementation of an American Power Conversion (APC) Silcon uninterruptible power supply (UPS) 1.5 megawatt system plus built-in redundancy. As one of the largest single-site APC installations in the United States to date, the UPS system will help ensure USDataCenters` ability to guarantee an industry-leading, no-fail power supply of 200 watts per square foot at its Marlborough, Mass., data center facility. At 200 watts per square foot, USDataCenters is among the highest power-density data centers in the world.

"Unlike many 3-phase UPS systems, the Delta Conversion On-line technology of the Silcon UPS provides significantly higher efficiency - resulting in considerably lower operation costs for USDataCenters," said Rick Zach, USDataCenters` founder and president. "APC`s power expertise and legendary reliability was instrumental in creating a highly customized, highly engineered data center infrastructure with 24x7 availability. With customer service second to none, APC provided the responsiveness, flexibility and input we required throughout the development process."

USDataCenters took advantage of APC`s Project Management Services to assist in the design, development and installation of the power infrastructure for its Marlborough, Mass., data center. The ultimate power solution designed for USDataCenters is built upon APC`s Silcon UPS. Silcon provides industry-leading technology and benefits including the patented Delta Conversion On-Line technology that minimizes costs associated with electrical infrastructure equipment, installation and day-to-day operation; system redundancy for N+X configurations; scalability to grow as customer configurations grow; and comprehensive global services and management integration to increase ease-of-use and systems management.

"With tens of thousands of Silcon products now installed worldwide, high availability customers such as USDataCenters are rapidly adopting APC`s Delta-Conversion On-line technology to the point where we currently believe APC is the fastest growing provider of three-phase UPS solutions worldwide," commented Peter Rumsey, vice president of APC`s Enterprise Solutions Group. "APC`s approach of partnering throughout the data center build-out enables APC to create a solution that optimizes our customers` specific infrastructure and strengths. Our designation as a USDataCenters Technology reflects the integral role APC and the Silcon UPS play in this new data center."
