USKO disposes of its 50% interest in Lambda Cables to Siltron

Johannesburg, 05 Jun 1998

USKO announced today that it had disposed of its 50% interest in Lambda Cables based in Pretoria to Siltron (Pty) Limited for a cash amount of R10,2 million with effect from 1st May 1998. USKO Chief Executive Officer John Beck commented "Lambda, under the management of Mr Sander Silvis has always been an excellent company with a great future. Unfortunately Lambda no longer directly fits our new information technology focus and hence it made sense to dispose of our entire interest to Siltron, a company controlled by Mr Sander Silvis the current Managing Director of Lambda and his brother Mr Bastiaan Silvis. Lambda holds a commanding market position in the supply of UL and EC verification category 5 data communication cable with South Africa and together with ATC and Aberdare Cables was recently awarded a two year contract to supply Telkom with indoor telephone cabling.
