Ustream unveils iPhone broadcasting app

Ustream has made its Live Broadcaster iPhone app available in the iTunes App Store reports ITVT.

The iPhone app allows video recording directly to the Web, and is also a one-to-many live broadcasting application. The company states it is "bringing the ability to broadcast live to anyone".

The Ustream Live Broadcaster iPhone app is a free service being supported by advertising. It works on the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS handsets to support live streaming over WiFi and 3G, and allow users to share recorded videos on various social networking sites.

BBC's iPlayer broadcasts to TV

The BBC is releasing a TV set which offers people the chance to view the BBC iPlayer directly, reports the BBC.

The iViewer from UK firm Cello has built-in Internet access, requiring a or WiFi connection in order to view net channels, of which it will start with 14.

Currently, the BBC iPlayer service is only available on TV via set top boxes, games consoles or a TV subscription with Virgin Media.

F1 should embrace new media

Formula one should embrace the challenges posed by "new media", reports Motosport.com.

Neville Wheeler, business development director at Cisco, says the sport's commercial rights holder faces a major challenge in adapting from the rapidly outdated television broadcast model.

"Smart organisations are embracing new opportunities provided by 'new media' rather than maintaining the walled garden approach.”
